This fine art counted cross stitch pattern entitled Marquise de Pompadour designed from a painting by Francois Boucher shows a portrait of Madame dressed in all her finery befitting a queen in deep teal tones accented with peach flowers and ruffles against her alabaster skin.  The artist portrayed her as having such skin as it was considered to be the reigning standard of beauty and fashion during the 1700's.  She was a woman of standing and held the title of mistress to King Louis XV of France in 1745.  She was admired for her wit and charm by many people and was adored by the king.  Even the queen showed deference and respect towards Madame, and at one point, Madame de Pompadour was considered to be the most powerful woman in France. This portrait deserves to be in an area of formality where its beauty can be showcased.  Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. We only use an abundance of solid colors as it produces a more realistic effect.
