This fine art counted cross stitch pattern entitled Biblis designed from a painting by William Adolphe Bouguereau shows that according to Greek mythology, Biblis had fallen in love with her own twin brother Caunus, and realizing that this was taboo, she still wanted to pursue the relationship. When she told her brother about her true feelings, he was appalled by her desire to commit incest and sent her stripped naked running through the streets chasing him in an act of humiliation and finally dissolving into a puddle of her own tears. The nymphs witnessed her plight and turned her into a fountain. Before being transformed into a fountain, Biblis is shown here stretched out on the ground completely naked in total humiliation with plants and trees behind her. Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. We only use an abundance of solid colors as it produces a more realistic effect.
