This fine art counted cross stitch pattern entitled Rescue at Sea designed from a painting by Ivan Aivazovsky shows survivors from the Ninth Wave being rescued from a violent storm that took place on the open waters.  Although the waves still appear to be high, the men in the small boat are probably grateful to see the larger vessel coming to rescue them from the churning waters.  It is evident by the color of the sky that the storm is dissipating and soon will be over.  The undulating waves are shown in various colors from blue to green to violet.  Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. We only use an abundance of solid colors as it produces a more realistic effect.
