This fine art counted cross-stitch pattern, entitled Dutch Barges at the Mouth of an Estuary, depicts the barges maneuvering their way through an estuary as the sun sets, creating a beautiful sight. We can see the sun shining down upon the surrounding water and on the sails of a boat, making it almost appear to be golden at the day's end. The rosiness of the clouds helps to add color to the scene as they move in and away from each other, with areas of gorgeous blue/violet colors peaking through. The artist is well-known for capturing the maritime life in great detail. Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. Instead, we use a variety of solid colors to achieve a more realistic effect.
