This fine art counted cross stitch pattern entitled Washington Crossing the Delaware, designed from a painting by Emanuel Leutze, shows a heroic General George Washington at his finest hour, crossing the Delaware River on a surprise attack on the Hessian army during the Revolutionary War. This important event occurred on the eve of December 25th, 1776. General George Washington was not yet president here, but he proved to be a fearless leader, and his actions changed the course of American History. The sky pictured here is bleak and grayish blue in one area, but the light of hope is illuminating the men on their mission. When the attack occurred, 22 Hessian soldiers were killed, 98 were wounded, and 1,000 were captured, creating a resounding defeat of the Hessian army. Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. Instead, we use a variety of solid colors to achieve a more realistic effect.
