This oak tree counted cross stitch pattern entitled A Herdsman and his Cattle Resting Under an Oak Tree, designed from a painting by Barend Cornelis Koekkoek, shows the herdsman cattle grazing and drinking from the brook under a large Oak tree that is providing shade from the sun. The oaks are massive in stature and provide a wide canopy of much-needed shade. The herdsman is in no hurry and is relishing in his place of rest, for soon they will be heading to their next stop and must conserve their energy for their travels ahead. Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. Instead, we use a variety of solid colors to achieve a more realistic effect.
