This fine art counted cross stitch pattern entitled Portrait of Charles Compton, Earl of Northampton designed from a painting by Pompeo Batoni shows a portrait of the 7th Earl of Northampton posing with his favorite companion on his lap (a young female Whippet).  The Earl is dressed in a red fur-lined cape, a white shirt, and black riding boots.  The artist had a knack for bringing out the good nature expression in his subjects, and this is what we see here.  His expression is calm, yet confident.  He was the eldest son of Honorable Charles Compton, and he later became an aristocrat and diplomat.  Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. We only use an abundance of solid colors as it produces a more realistic effect.
