This New England counted cross stitch pattern entitled Harkness Tower, Yale University shows the beautifully intricate tower shrouded by a large tree.  Harkness Tower, which stands 216 feet tall, was the first "crown" tower in English Perpendicular Gothic style built in the modern era.  Each foot stands for each year since Yale's founding at the time it was built. From a square base, it rises in stages to a double stone crown on an octagonal base, and at the top are stone finials. From the street level to the roof, there are 284 steps.  Midway to the top, four openwork copper clock faces tell the hours.  Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. We only use an abundance of solid colors as it produces a more realistic effect.
