This fine art counted cross-stitch pattern entitled The Storm Spirits designed from a painting by Evelyn De Morgan shows three powerful, winged figures personifying the elements as they sweep over a churning sea and jagged cliffs. In this scene, the artist wanted to emphasize the raw, kinetic energy of the natural world, using the swirling robes and intense expressions of the spirits to illustrate the chaotic beauty of a mounting tempest. The visual palette is a dramatic interplay of fiery reds and deep, stormy indigos, contrasted by the luminous yellow of the central figure’s gown and the frothing, white crests of the ocean waves. This pattern is for lovers of Symbolism and Pre-Raphaelite art like myself who appreciate bold, allegorical themes and the masterful way 19th-century painters used mythical figures to represent the forces of nature. The scene captures the atmospheric silence that precedes a thunderclap, where the air is thick with the electricity of the coming storm.  Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. Instead, we use a variety of solid colors to achieve a more realistic effect.
