This New England counted cross stitch pattern entitled South Congregational Church shows a very famous church stark white in color with large columns and a large clock on its steeple.  In 2017, I had the pleasure of visiting this church.  Built in 1824, the church is very historic and has not changed much as seen today except for the front portico (porch) which was constructed in 1912. These columns are Doric in style and are featured on the front of the church. Architects got ideas on how to build this church from a nearby shipyard next to the Kennebunk River, including building manuals of other churches. The striking clock face (Aaron Willard Clock) is very accurate and keeps the correct time even to this day. A pipe organ was installed and dedicated in 2004 to further grace the interior with inspiration. This church is very special and was featured in the movie, Lost Boundaries, about a black physician who passed for white who was dealing with racism in a New England town.  Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. We only use an abundance of solid colors as it produces a more realistic effect.
