This fine art counted cross stitch pattern entitled The Buffalo Trails designed from a painting by Albert Bierstadt shows the buffalos migrating back and forth between salt licks and feeding areas during a time when their numbers were severely dwindling. In this scene they are crossing a large body of water at day's end. The sun is blazing yellow in its final glow for the evening as dark threatening clouds hover above and night approaches. The lead buffalo has crossed the lake and is heading towards a field with a grove of trees. They will feed here, settle down for the evening and wait for dawn. Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. We only use an abundance of solid colors as it produces a more realistic effect.
