This fine art counted cross stitch pattern entitled Portrait of West African Corporal Jan Kooi designed from a painting by Johan Coenraad Leich shows Corporal Kooi who was a Ghanaian military officer enlisted with the Dutch KNIL (Royal Netherlands East Indies Army). We are told he could speak Dutch fluently and was awarded the highest military honor in the Dutch army. He proudly displays four Dutch service medals he earned due to his superior bravery. The Corporal looks very handsome in his uniform and is posing in a formal position with his hand tucked into his uniform. Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. We only use an abundance of solid colors as it produces a more realistic effect.
