This fine art counted cross stitch pattern entitled The Lace Maker designed from a painting by Charles Amable Lenoir shows a young woman seated on a stool engaged in the tedious task and art of lace making. Today it is a skill that few engage in, and it takes great skill to make lace. She is dressed in a gown with a dark pink bodice and full satin light pink skirting. The dullness of the drapes behind her work enhances the brightness of her dress and the golden legs of the seat on which she is sitting. She wears a white ruffled covering on her head to keep her hair out of her way while she is working on the lace. Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. Instead, we use a variety of solid colors to achieve a more realistic effect.
