This fine art counted cross stitch pattern entitled Romanian Family Going to the Fair designed from a painting by Barabás Miklós shows a traveling family in traditional folk dress pausing on a sunlit mountain path, their figures framed by a towering, ancient evergreen. The travelers are embarking on their trip on a high-altitude morning, just as the day’s journey begins to unfold under a vast, open sky.  The rugged beauty of rural life and the vibrant cultural heritage of the Eastern European peasantry are present here. The colors used are a rich tapestry of earthy ochres and deep forest greens, illuminated by the bright, clean whites of the family’s linen garments and the soft, hazy blues of the sprawling valley below. This pattern is for history and travel lovers who appreciate the blend of fine portraiture with expansive, scenic storytelling and the authentic charm of 19th-century genre painting.  Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. Instead, we use a variety of solid colors to achieve a more realistic effect.
