This fine art counted cross stitch pattern entitled The Woodman's Daughter designed from a painting by John Everett Millais shows the woodman's daughter, Maud, befriending and engaging in conversation with a squire's son while her father is busy at work. The two grow up and this becomes an ill-fated romance as they can never marry due to the disparity in their social rank. Because of this, they continue their trysts and a baby is born out of wedlock. Because they are not permitted to marry, Maud ends up going mad and fatally drowning with a love unfulfilled outside of the boundaries of marriage. Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. We only use an abundance of solid colors as it produces a more realistic effect.
