This fine art counted cross stitch pattern entitled The Infancy of Zeus designed from a painting by Nicolaes Pietersz Berchem shows the infant Zeus asleep in a nymph's lap. According to Greek mythology, since his father Chronos was notorious for devouring all of his children, the mother of Zeus wanted to save him from such misfortune and entrusted him in the care of a nymph who took care of him. He was fed honey and suckled with goat milk. A satyr is seen carrying a large bucket of milk. Together all those who participated in his up rearing helped him to become a healthy young man. Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. We only use an abundance of solid colors as it produces a more realistic effect.
