This fine art counted cross stitch pattern entitled The Castle Portal designed from a painting by Ferdinand Knab shows the grand entrance to a castle by way of a very ornate gate framed with tall trees and vegetation. The artist is known for his fictitious architecture, ruins, and grand entrances to them in many of his paintings. Notice the sky beyond the gate is yellow or golden, and a mass of fall-colored leaves is at the base of the entrance on the other side of the gate. A lone bird can be seen flying in the midst of the scene, which symbolizes rebirth or an act of transition. Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. Instead, we use a variety of solid colors to achieve a more realistic effect.
