This fine art counted cross stitch pattern entitled Testing the Water designed from a painting by Emile Munier shows a barefoot young girl standing on a stone at the edge of a quiet stream, lifting her dark skirt as her loyal black dog looks up from the reeds. In creating this piece, Munier wanted to emphasize the innocent curiosity of a summer stroll, no doubt finding beauty in the soft light of the woods. The palette is a blend of deep forest shadows and crisp whites.  It captures the scent of damp earth and the quiet warmth of a humid afternoon.   Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. Instead, we use a variety of solid colors to achieve a more realistic effect.
