This fine art counted cross stitch pattern entitled Ruins in a Moonlit Landscape designed from a painting by Arnold Bocklin shows church or cathedral ruins in a spooky setting with trees waving in the distance like giant hands. The sky itself adds to the drama with vivid hues of purple, violet, shades of blue and dark undertones while the moon seems to be shining a light on the ruins itself spotlighting it. This causes shadows to appear as the wind causes trees and shrubs to wave back and forth in the wind. In the foreground you can see the silhouette of a horseman riding past the scene into the night. This is a foreboding site that is also hauntingly beautiful with the way the light from the moon is used. It definitely has that Gothic look if that is what you find attractive. Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. We only use an abundance of solid colors as it produces a more realistic effect.
