This fine art counted cross stitch pattern, entitled Portrait of Julia Foster Ward, designed from a painting by Jules Joseph Lefebvre, shows a young woman in a three-quarter-length pose, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Seeley Ward.  She is dressed in a short-sleeve dress the color of ecru with gold satin at the shoulders and bodice, and a winter green sash tied around her waist.  She wears white morning glories throughout her dark brown tresses that symbolize the brevity of life.  The painting was commissioned by her parents two years after her death, and she passed away at the tender age of 21.  Her likeness was painted by the artist using photographs, and he had a model wear the clothing the parents chose for the portrait.  Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. Instead, we use a variety of solid colors to achieve a more realistic effect.
