This fine art counted cross stitch pattern entitled Odaliske designed from a painting by Leon Benouville shows an odaliske or concubine relaxing on a divan while being attended to by her servant. Her caftan is loose fitting, light and airy with a sheen to it that looks like its made of satin. Bright and bold colors are used here. Of note is the contrast of colors worn by the odaliske and her attendant. The odaliske is dressed in light colors while she reclines on a divan and the woman waiting on her is dressed in less noticeable colors that are almost drab, and she is not free to recline, but sits ready and waiting in a subservient role to the other woman. Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. We only use an abundance of solid colors as it produces a more realistic effect.
