This fine art counted cross stitch pattern, entitled Sarah Barrett Moulton a.k.a. Pinkie, is designed from a painting by Thomas Lawrence. It depicts the young girl, daughter of a wealthy landowner in Jamaica, who was sent to England for her education. Her grandmother affectionately commissioned the painting of her, as she missed her dearly while she was away in England. She is pictured here at 11 years of age, but tragically, she died when she reached the age of 12. She is pictured here in a long, white dress with a pink sash and a matching hat featuring ribbons that are seen blowing in the wind. Of note is how the artist decreased the horizon in the background, making Sarah look monumental over it all. This picture was shown at the Royal Academy the day after her burial. Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. Instead, we use a variety of solid colors to achieve a more realistic effect.
