This fine art counted cross stitch pattern entitled Pioneers of the Woods designed from a painting by Albert Bierstadt shows the affinity between two giant oak trees in the woods.  They are big in girth, tall and gorgeous specimens towering over other species.  They are also the silent historians that have been here for hundreds of years having witnessed many events and were able to communicate with each other (and there is evidence that trees can do this with others of the same species).  If only they could talk to us, just imagine the events they could tell us about history.  These two particular trees are located in a place in Yosemite Valley where it is known to have very large oak trees.  To come upon oak trees this big, the artist would have to assume these were some of the first trees in the woods that started the procreation of the forest and left seeds for future trees; thus, the name "pioneers" fits.  Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. We only use an abundance of solid colors as it produces a more realistic effect.
