This fine art counted cross stitch pattern entitled The Youth of Bacchus (left) designed from a painting by William Adolphe Bouguereau shows a celebration of bacchanalia where the youth have gathered together to drink, cavort naked and semi-naked in wild abandon in honor of the god Bacchus. They are singing, dancing, drinking, and playing musical instruments and engage in athletic fetes. The youth are accompanied by satyrs, cherubs, nymphs, etc. In this scene, Bacchus is shown slumped over a donkey fully naked except for a fig leaf covering his genitals. He is drunk, has a huge belly and ironically does not epitomize the vision of youth. Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. We only use an abundance of solid colors as it produces a more realistic effect.
