This religious counted cross stitch pattern entitled Pieta designed from a painting by William Adolphe Bouguereau shows Mary, mother of God cradling her son Jesus in her arms and mourning his death. (The word “pieta” means compassion in the Italian language). The crown of thorns is laying on the ground next to a large urn. Those in attendance of the crucifixion are loved ones, Mary his mother and the angels from the heavens. A look of deep sorrow and grief is on their faces as Jesus is laid to rest. It is finished with the well-kept promise that he will rise again. Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. Instead, we only use an abundance of solid colors to produce a more realistic effect.
