This gemstone beauty counted cross stitch pattern entitled Ruby designed by Tracey Marvel Kramer showcases the Ruby gemstone and how fabulous it looks on our model with her luscious red lips and bronze skin-tone. The name ruby comes from the Latin word ruber which means red. Rubies are the birthstone for the month of July. Its characteristic red color comes in clear or opaque red with the clear being a lot rarer and far more valuable in price. Rubies come from the mineral Corundum (i.e., Sapphire), so in essence, rubies are red sapphires. Rubies were found as far back as 200 BC where Chinese noblemen adorned their armor with them with the belief that it would protect them. God refers to rubies in the Bible using symbolism when describing wisdom where he states ". . . [wisdom] is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her." Folly is loud and defiant.” (Proverbs 3:15). God also compares a virtuous woman to rubies. “Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies . . .” (Proverbs 31:10-12). Rubies are red in color which is associated with love and passion as well as anger. They can be found in the United States, Afghanistan, Burma, Mozambique, Pakistan, Australia, Cambodia, India, Viet Nam, Thailand and Tanzania. The symbolic traits associated with rubies are passion, charisma, energy, strength, loyalty, honor and creativity.
