This fine art counted cross stitch pattern entitled Una and the Lion designed from a painting by Briton Riviere shows Una who comes upon a lion in the forest, and the lion is so captivated by her beauty, that he becomes her docile companion. Another interpretation is that the scene uses symbolism to represent Queen Elizabeth I, and the lion represents her power. The queen has, in fact, trained the lion so well, that he does not even attack a lamb nearby that has wandered into their presence. The scenery is beautiful with trees adorned with autumn leaves in deep burgundy and rust. Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. We only use an abundance of solid colors as it produces a more realistic effect.
