This fine art counted cross stitch pattern entitled Approaching Storm, Beach Near Newport, designed from a painting by Martin Johnson Heade, shows tremendous thunder clouds looming over the ocean and beach. A couple of brave souls take a chance off in the distance as the storm rolls in. The dark skies are very beautiful and add a sense of drama to the scene. In fact, the darkness seems to provide an interesting contrast to the sandy shores. This is definitely worthy of stitching! Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. Instead, we use a variety of solid colors to achieve a more realistic effect.
