This fantasy counted cross stitch pattern entitled Ancient Compass, designed by Tracey Marvel Kramer, shows a large fantastical ancient compass that arises out of the deep waters of the ocean whenever a person is lost at sea and needs to find their way home. The compass is very ornate with a huge topaz and aquamarine gemstone in the center and framed with 24-carat gold. In this particular scene, the sky is many shades of blue punctuated with churlish cumulus clouds billowing across the skyscape in full display creating wonder, drama, and a feeling of elation. Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. Instead, we use a variety of solid colors to achieve a more realistic effect.
