This fine art counted cross stitch pattern entitled Capriccio of a Round Church designed from a painting by Giovanni Antonia Canaletto shows another fantastical design of a church that is round by the artist borrowing architectural traits from many styles to create a fantasy cityscape. One can only imagine what would have happened if a builder had actually recreated these scenes in real life. The architectural style is Gothic combined with turrets, spirals, finials, etc. and yet he has made it look so realistic with people on the piazza that we have all assumed this really existed. Just because it does not exist does not mean we cannot admire its beauty. Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. Instead, we only use an abundance of solid colors to produce a more realistic effect.
