This religious counted cross stitch pattern entitled L Annociation de 1644 designed from a painting by Philippe de Champaigne shows the moment when an angel in blue from the Lord visited the Virgin Mary to tell her that she was to become the mother of the Christ child and his name shall be Jesus Christ, the Son of the living God.  In the angel's hands she is carrying a frond of white lilies which symbolize purity, birth and innocence.  Two cherubs are also witnessing the blessed event, and a dove is hovering above which represents purity and the Holy Spirit.  From her expression it is evident that Mary is startled by the angel's visit, but she dutifully accepts her role in God's divine destiny and obeys.  Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. Instead, we only use an abundance of solid colors to produce a more realistic effect.
