This fine art counted cross stitch pattern entitled The Chapel designed from a painting by Arnold Bocklin shows a chapel in ruins that is being battered by a severe thunderstorm from the high seas. The inside of the chapel has not been spared, and the artist very cleverly has illuminated the interior with a defining contrast between light and dark on the chapel walls. As the storm rages on, the water reaches higher and higher. Surely those who tried to seek refuge inside the chapel had no such protection and were washed away. Even in the midst of the storm, the beauty of the entire scene shines through as living proof that ruins can be beautiful too. I cherish the many shades of brown and the contrast between them with black and beige. This is simply beautiful! Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. We only use an abundance of solid colors as it produces a more realistic effect.
