This fine art counted cross stitch pattern entitled Salammbo designed from a painting by Gaston Bussiere shows Salammbo, a beautiful young woman caught in the middle of a love triangle between two barbarian clan chiefs who fell in love with her.  The two men were mercenaries hired by Carthage to seek retribution on their employers who often postponed their pay.  This takes place in Carthage during the first Punic wars.  The artist uses an impressionistic style of painting here with few definite lines; however, the style works well with this subject and would be a masterpiece when stitched.  Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. Instead, we only use an abundance of solid colors to produce a more realistic effect.
