This fine art counted cross stitch pattern entitled Echo designed from a painting by Alexandre Cabanel shows that according to Greek mythology, Echo, a beautiful nymph had positioned herself on a ledge high up in the mountains and is shown with her hands over her ears and her mouth wide open as if startled by continuous reverberating sounds. According to legend, she had been cursed by Hera to only be able to repeat the last words ever said to her, and this fate is proving to be unbearable to her. She is half nude with a filmy white transparent drape over her lower half and her long brown hair cascades down her back and is covered by a dark veil. Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. Instead, we only use an abundance of solid colors to produce a more realistic effect.
