This fine art counted cross stitch pattern entitled Josias Rentzau designed from a painting by Jean Alaux shows the subject on his horse as a Danish military leader and hero. He made a lifetime career out of the military serving several kings and will always be remembered for his bravery. When he was young, he served the King Christian IV of Denmark and Prince Maurice of Orange. Later in life he was imprisoned by the Spanish and was placed in the Bastille under lock and key. Shortly after his release, he died. In this scene he looks chivalrous with his sword and is on his horse who has reared up and is ready to take off to the next adventure. Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. We only use an abundance of solid colors as it produces a more realistic effect.
