This fine art counted cross stitch pattern entitled Circe Invidiosa designed from a painting by John William Waterhouse shows that according the Greek Mythology, Circe is poisoning the water of a rival beauty named Scylla to turn her into an ugly monster.  The name "Circe Invidiosa" in Latin means "jealous Circe" and that is just what Circe is, a jealous person hellbent on destroying another woman by ruining her good looks.  Notice that the color of the poison she is using is green, and the color green relates to the phrase "green with envy."  In the real world, this kind of evil vengeance never really works for the good of mankind and is frowned upon because it just may boomerang around and bite the sender of such an evil deed.  Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. We only use an abundance of solid colors as it produces a more realistic effect.
