This religious counted cross stitch pattern entitled Rest on the Flight to Egypt designed from a painting by Caravaggio shows an angel instructing the Holy Family (consisting of Joseph, Mary and the infant Jesus) as they rest under a large tree before fleeing King Herod's land as he sought to kill the infant Jesus. The figures seemed crammed into a small space, but that is just the artist's style. This is still a beautiful artwork worthy of stitching! Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. We only use an abundance of solid colors as it produces a more realistic effect.
