This fine art counted cross stitch pattern entitled Cotopaxi designed from a painting by Frederic Edwin Church shows an active volcano in Ecuador erupting, and the spew of lava symbolizes the civil unrest in the society there and lack of diplomacy. The sun in the background is glowing yellow in the midst of the turmoil surrounded by clouds of red ash and lava. Water is emptying from a lake or basin to flow downward against rocky cliffs as the war between society and nature continue. Even though this scene poses a picture of turmoil, the way the artist portrayed these social issues using nature is beautiful. Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. Instead, we only use an abundance of solid colors to produce a more realistic effect.
