This fine art counted cross stitch pattern entitled Yuliya Samoylova designed from a painting by Karl Briullov shows Countess Yuliya Samoylova posing with her foster daughter Giovannina.  The Countess is wearing royal ermine as she was a wealthy countess, daughter of Martyn Skavronskiy, and close friend of the artist.  When her mother died, she inherited a manor called Grafskaya Slavyanka (now called Antropshino) and became owner of this including several valuable artworks.  She later met her future husband, and she became a countess when she married Nikolai Slavyanka, but later divorced him.  Afterwards, she moved from Russia and lived a long time in Italy where she entertained the social elite.  She later died in Paris France.  Just looking at her expression in this scene shows she was a vivacious, energetic woman full of vitality.  She is surrounded by vibrant shades of red which complement her raven tresses.  She was an interesting woman indeed.  Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. We only use an abundance of solid colors as it produces a more realistic effect.
