This fine art counted cross stitch pattern entitled The Virgin of the Lilies designed from a painting by William Adolphe Bouguereau shows the blessed virgin holding her son, Baby Jesus. There are white lilies around her which foreshadow the events that are to take place in the future which is why we celebrate Easter, and the Lily is the symbol flower for Easter. The colors in the background are welcoming and add a sense of beauty. I admire the bright gold used for the halos on both Mary and her son, and they really stand out in the scene. Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. We only use an abundance of solid colors as it produces a more realistic effect.
