This fine art animal counted cross stitch pattern entitled The Monarch of the Glen designed from a painting by Sir Edwin Landseer shows a gorgeous and very large stag entering the scene walking into the heather in the mist of the Highlands wilderness.  During the time this image was painted, stag hunting had increased to the point where stag numbers have decreased tremendously and were almost wiped out in the Highlands thus making them an endangered.  Rich men hunted them for sport, and it meant more to them than the lives of those who were poor.  Nevertheless, this portrait of the stag is majestic, filled with raw power, muscle and beauty of knowing that it's one of God's beautiful creatures.  Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. We only use an abundance of solid colors as it produces a more realistic effect.
