DMC Embroidery Floss

Have you ever heard of the phrase, “Waste not, want not?”Organizing your leftover DMC embroidery floss from previous cross stitch projects can be a gold mine and can help you when you are in need of a specific color. You can save money on DMC embroidery floss for your next project in case you happen to run out of a certain color. Some people, believe it or not, call this leftover floss “scrap thread” and simply throw it away. Why do that when you could make good use of this floss by not wasting it and recycle it by working it into another project? In order to do this correctly, you only need three things and they are as follows:

3 things needed

Floss Organizer Storage Case
Floss Bobbins
Red or Black Permament Marker

Some floss organizers come with floss number stickers. Although they are convenient to use, they never stay on the spool and quickly come off. That is why I recommend use of a permanent marker.

How to Organize Your DMC Embroidery Floss

How to organize it is simple! When you have finished your latest project, it is important to record and maintain the floss number for each color.Using a permanent marker, simply mark the floss number at the top of the plastic bobbin large enough to be easily seen.Next, you will take that corresponding floss and wrap it around the bobbin.Place that bobbin in the storage box and continue this process winding the bobbins and filing them in numerical order until you have a nifty stash of organized floss ready to use. This will come in handy when you’re working on a project and suddenly run out of floss in that particular color.
