This fine art counted cross stitch pattern entitled The Difficult Lesson designed from a painting by William Adolphe Bouguereau shows a young girl sitting on a stoop in a catatonic state and bewilderment as she tries to grasp the intricacies of her school lesson. We cannot help but feel sorry for the poor little waif because each and every one of us has probably gone through this difficulty at some time or another. Since there is no sign of help nearby, she is forced to somehow glean this knowledge by herself. She wears a peasant-style dress and is barefoot. Her hair is cut short, and she has large brown eyes. Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. We only use an abundance of solid colors as it produces a more realistic effect.
