This fine art counted cross stitch pattern entitled The Ballerina designed from a painting by Pierre Carrier-Belleuse shows a ballerina adjusting the ribbon straps of her bodice in preparation for pulling up her tutu. She appears to be preparing for a performance. We know that not only is ballet a graceful art full of refined elegance and sweeping movements, but it also can be rigorous depending on the type of movements as noted in the dancer's calf muscles that seem very well-developed. The colors are muted, soft and similar to sepia colors that add a sort of softness to the picture allowing the texture to seep in. Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. We only use an abundance of solid colors as it produces a more realistic effect.
